Time To Shine

This week The Blogging Challenge has gone all heads and feet on us.

This week your suppost to Figure out your Digital Dossier. This is like a footprint. It starts from the minute you are born and the time you die, and maybe even after.

In this challenge I am writing about the places or websites ive signed up for.

I have registered to facebook, myspace, and yahoo. I am starting hockey next season too.

Some of the questions I ansered were like,

• province
• country
• name
• last name
• sometimes middle name
• vip code
• likes, dislikes

When I logged on somtimes on sertant sites they asked for my credit card number and I knew already at the time that they could easily get into your bank account so I dident do it.

The other part of this blogging challenge is to add you own personal avatar to your blog. In case you dont know what an avatar is yet, it is the thing that shows up beside your comments to show who you are. But sometimes to be safe its good to not put a picture of yourself, maybe a special character or something. An avatar could look like this,

You can upload different pictures from your computer, or just use the ones on the site.

I hope the next challenge will bring some more fun!

Challenge 2 post

Basket ball.

This a fun, painful, hard, really fun, exciting sport. I love it! I usually never score a point but then the day came when I, Kalliese finally scored a point and I felt amazing! I was going to pass to my team mate but then I didn’t. I just decided to take a chance and shoot and what do you know. I got a point.

Basket ball may look really hard with all the rules and guide lines there really isn’t that many you just have to listen to the referee and not be to picky on the plays. My favorite part about b – ball is finding out who your check mate is, if you are not sure what a check mate is yet it is the person your going for. If your check has the ball it is your objective to get the ball out of there position. Another thing about your check mate is if they are able to have ball past to them you have to try and get in there way to make sure they cant get it.

What makes a good b – ball team is team work, you always have to pass and encourage everyone to try and get the ball, but of course if your an NBA player your always after the ball no matter what. Even though I used to absolutely stink I have really improved on my skills, when we play I actually am doing better.

What is your favorite sport to play and why?

This new year me and my class have learned about where resolutions originate from and we have made our own resolutions.

We had to make a resolution for four different subjects, they are

• personal
• school
• local
• global

My personal resolution is to finish The Chronicles Of Narnia before the end of the year. The way I am going to do it is,

• read more often
• read every night before I got to bed
• learn more about the book

For school I would like to really work on my math, and the way I will do that is by,

• taking home extra stuff to practice
• asking more questions
• studying for tests way more

Now in with the local subject I would like to start picking up garbage in the parks or in the trails and here is how I will do it,

• NO MORE LITTERING FOR ME
• if I see something don’t just ignore it
• take more time to be outside

And last but not least global I would like to help stop child labour and here is how I will help,

• learn more about child labour
• if there is any fundraisers raise money
• start a fundraiser

Wedensday was the 7th game of the Stanley Cup Finals. Boston won 4 to nothing, the Canucks were demolished. The whole arena was very upset with the Canucks, but when Tim Thomas lifted the cup it was a different story. Rogers arena arupted with cheering, all the fans were very classy and gave the Boston Bruins a standing ovation. After the second period there was a change in the atmosphere, the crowd was very angry and they carried thru for the rest of the night. The so called after party wasent something you would want to be invited to.

There was so many things going wrong after the game that I couldent even watch the news anymore. The fans decided to destroy Vancouver with, well whatever they could get there hands on. Burning cars, screaming, 140 people in the hospital over a hockey game. On CBC News they had the inside story live after the game, but it was very hard to speak when they were inturupted 7 times by riot police shotting tear gas and cars blowing up. The pictures and video were so harsh that  the news couldent even show some of it. Everyone with childeren had already left during the second period, for safety reasons.

Thru all of the chaos you have to think , were the people acting insane really fans? Or were they just looking for an excuse to destriy there own city. People in Surrey were watching the game on a big screen, yet nothing happened. No riots, no people in the hospital, they just left. They were real classy fans.

Group behaviour was a really big factor on the riot. When people act out and have friends around the others start to follow. Usually….. there is one person left that says to himself  ” This is wrong I cant dot it.” They feel like they wont fit in or they wont be labled as cool, or end up like the people in the hospital.

The city has started to clean up and on the boards that were put in the brocken windows, people wrote quotes and said sorry to the world… and Vancouver. They believe that one day this will past and the world will Vancouver for who it really is.

Challenge 3 post

My class and I have been learning about Jackson Pollock. He is an amazing painter, and he puts absolutely no care into his work. The no care part is what I’ll explain in a moment. He has many different styles but there is one that is used very often.

As you can see I have painted a Jackson Pollock picture on one of his free websites. It was very fun to make and you can make a picture to with the link above. Jackson has one specific style he uses and that is paint splatter. That is what I meant by absolutely no care.

Jackson has done many paintings in his lifetime. They have been very strange  and at one point, but at the same moment they are awesome. I love to splatter paint myself so doing this with my class was very fun. When Jack painted he really wanted to be one with the painting. So instead of painting on an canvas he painted in a wide open space on the floor. He sploshed and splashed all over the place and it looked beautiful.

He used many different types of skill such as,

• Texture
• Space
• Color
• Form
• Value

In my painting I had  color  and  value. If you had to compare my painting to Jackson’s you could find a lot of differences. He had things like more value and texture. I wish I could meet him in person, but I have to meet him through his paintings.

Hey all you bloggers out there, its finally here! The blogging challenge is up and ready.

I am super excited for my very first blogging challenge. My whole class and I are doing the blogging challenge. The blogging challenge is where you do a blogging activity every week for 10 weeks. My class and I have been learning about  Internet safety, and since Febuary the 8th is Safer Internet Day we are learning about it even more.

There are many, many, many people that are on the Internet at the same time, and you really never know what they can and cannot see. When you are having fun taking pictures really nothing can go wrong until you put the photos on the Internet. I am not saying you shouldn’t put photos on facebook or other social networks but you should really put privacy settings on them.

When you put photos or videos on facebook some may be embarrassing to you or someone else. Even though you don’t mind them it doesn’t mean someone else doesn’t and they might be very hurtful to someone. You see if other people see the video or picture they might laugh at the person and start picking on them, and that wouldn’t be very nice.

Privacy settings are very easy to use and take about 1 minute of your life to do, and they can really help the people around you.

“But wouldn’t your friends see the video or photo and laugh?”

Well it keeps from letting people you don’t know see the video and potentially spread it…. everywhere. Facebook is a very fun place to connect with friends and play games, but sometimes people aren’t just there to do those things. I am not saying you shouldn’t get facebook or use it but dont let people make you feel uncomfortable. Putting yourself in risky situations like this can leave long term scars on your heart. If someone makes you fell uncomfortable talk to an adult or report the person.

Internet safety is a big thing in this world today and we really need to use it, so if you want to be web savvy think: privacy, privacy, privacy!

Protecting your personal information is super important and being aware will help keep you and those around you safe.

This February 23 is Pink Shirt Day! If you don’t know what that is, it is Anti- Bullying Day.

Pink Shirt Day is a day for everyone young and old. Many children around the world have been bullied and are still bullied, and it isn’t right! I really want to have a world where there is no such thing as a bully, the bystanders, or the victim.

Pink Shirt Day started in Nova Scotia. A boy wore pink to school and was mad fun of and called a homosexual. Two grade 12 students heard about this and decided this was not OK and they weren’t going to take it. So they went to a thrift store and bought pink shirts and tank tops. The idea was to give them out at school the next day. They also spread the word on the Internet using facebook and email to get more kids to wear pink that day. The next day it wasn’t just a couple dozen students who wore pink - hundreds wore pink!!!!!! That’s how Pink Shirt Day really started.

Bullying can really affect people. Earlier this year a girl named Phoebe Prince, a freshman student at South Hadley High School committed suicide because she was being bullied. Six students had charges pressed against them for bullying. She was targeted after dating a very popular boy and then bullied after. Because of this case, anti- bullying laws were toughened in the United States.

When incidents like this happen it is very difficult to solve because the victim has passed away and they can’t ask her what happened. They just have to hope the information they already have is true. It is really sad to know that this happens at all. No one should be bullied because all of our lives are valuable.

Here are some ways to stay away from bullying situations and be aware:

• If a bully walks up to you just walk away and ignore, because that makes them look bad and can take away their power
• If they are attacking you verbally go to a group and hang out with friends
• If they are still bugging you then go to an adult for help
• If you see bullying don’t just be a bystander, do something about it

I will help stop bullying by not being a bystander and telling more people to were pink on the 23 of February to spread the word that we need to stand up to bullying.  Thanks for reading.

So why is the Grinch so grinchy?

Is it because is shoes are to tight, or maybe his head wasn’t screwed on right but anyway he HATES Christmas.    He never really liked Christmas as a child but when he was very small he kind of liked it. One day in school there was a Christmas gift exchange and everyone would get a gift, even the Grinch.

It is very strange how in one minute you can love Christmas then hate it the next. The Grinch was the last one get a gift in class and he was excited,until he got it. He got a razor and the whole class laughed at him and he was angry.

“I hate Christmas!!!!!!!” he said while pushing the small but beautiful Christmas tree, he was so mad that he ran out and ran….. no where. He ran and ran up a tall steep mountain and when he got to the top he stayed there until, well now. Now the Grinch lives up on the tippy top of  Mount. Crumpet and despises any thing that has to do with Christmas.

He now is planning to steal Christmas from Whoville. How is he going to do it? Well the picture explains every thing.

He dresses up as the man in the red suit and with the help of his dog Max he uses a sleigh and is on his way!

Twas the night before christmas when all thru the house, not a creature was sturring not even a mouse.

The children were nestled all tucked in their beds, but in place of St. Nick the Grinch came instead.

So now you know why the Grinch is so grinchy,  about his life and his so called friends.
